SEMINAR: “VIETNAMESE PEOPLE IN GERMANY PAST AND PRESENT” “VIETNAMES_INNEN IN DEUTSCHLAND IN VERGANGENHEIT UND GEGENWART”
On the evening of November 20, 2018, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, a seminar on "Vietnamese people in Germany in the Past and Present" - "Vietnames_innen in Deutschland in vergangenhiet und gegenwart" took place. The meeting was honored to welcome Mr. Martin Dulig - Minister of Economy, Labor and Transport, Deputy Premier of Saxony - Federal Republic of Germany and the delegation. Attending the seminar were also two reporters, Dr. Le Dang Doanh - Former Director of the Central Institute of Economics and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam - General Director of Hanoi IEC Company and many officials, employees, students, who have lived and worked in Germany for a while.

The seminar opened with a brief summary of the history of Vietnam-Germany relations from the 1950s of the last century. Through his speech, Dr. Le Dang Doanh - Former Director of the Central Institute of Economics summarized the situation of the Vietnamese community in Germany in the period from the 1950s, integration and role their role in the relationship between the two countries. Mr. Doanh also said that Vietnamese people in Germany have always received attention and support from the German government, creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to easily integrate, study and work here.

In her speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam - General Director of Hanoi IEC Company said that Vietnamese students who come to study in Germany have placed an important mark on the relationship between Vietnam - Germany, many people some of them later held important positions in ministries and departments in the fields of Science, Technology, Foreign Affairs, Trade...

With the experience accumulated during more than 15 years of studying and working in Germany, after returning home, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam decided to establish Hanoi IEC Company in 2004 with the main function of supporting and connecting businesses of the two countries, promoting cooperation and economic development. Currently, the company has more than 100 employees with 3 branches in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Khanh Hoa.

Multi-field activities, focusing mainly on projects:
The project provides medical equipment, implantable equipment used in orthopedic trauma to more than 40 hospitals in Vietnam; The Bachelor of Nursing project of Hanoi Medical University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy received a nursing degree in Germany and worked for a long time at major German hospitals; Parallel vocational training scholarship project for businesses in the South of Thuringia State; The project supports German businesses to find partners to open more branches and factories in Vietnam.
On behalf of the government agency of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Martin Dulig - Minister of Economy, Labor and Transport, Deputy Premier of Saxony announced the current immigration policies of Germany. He also affirmed that the legal constraints in the new immigration law as well as the aging rate of the population are one of the reasons for the recent serious decline in labor in Germany.


Industry groups that are facing a serious shortage of labor include: construction, furniture manufacturing, assembling industrial machines, manufacturing plastic parts, nurses... In the coming time, the German coalition government will discuss and propose new policies to support and create more opportunities for foreigners to work and settle in Germany in general and Vietnamese in Germany in particular. Minister Martin Dulig also spent most of his time listening to and answering questions from attendees.

The seminar ended in an intimate and solemn atmosphere, the positive comments from Vietnam as well as the reception of the request of the Minister and the delegation will open up many cooperation opportunities for the Vietnamese side. enterprises of the two countries in the near future.
