Nosocomial infections: Intensifying morbidity and mortality rates

Nosocomial infections are always one of the challenges of the health sector, and infection control in health facilities is a top concern in Vietnam as well as around the world.

Nosocomial infections are one of the main causes that threaten the safety of patients, visitors and medical staff because of increased morbidity or mortality as well as duration and amount of treatment. The costs of medication and the burden of disease for both patients, caregivers and healthcare facilities are increased accordingly.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has been implementing many plans and measures to improve the capacity of infection control in medical examination and treatment facilities in order to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, ensuring the safety of patients, medical staff and patients. community.

The causes of the high rate of hospital-acquired infections in Vietnam are the lack of facilities, the lack of synchronization of equipment for disinfection and the low awareness of medical staff in infection control work . Hospital hygiene is an important area that needs attention to reduce the rate of hospital infections. Therefore, the training, implementation guidance, propaganda, practice, inspection and supervision of the infection control work in general and the hygienic hygiene in particular for health workers play a key role to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment of patients.

Sponsored by DEG Investment and Development Organization (Germany), Medical Capitalent, MBS Medical Business Solution, and Hanoi IEC Company will implement the project “Sharing information, experience and awareness about standards in hospital infection control through training activities and cleaning solutions” in Vietnam in 2017-2018.

This is a training project, sharing information and experiences on infection control and hygiene with the participation of leading German infectious disease experts, Vietnamese experts and lecturers for medical staff and students. medicine at medical universities and hospitals in Vietnam. The project includes knowledge and information sharing courses, helping to recommend appropriate processes for application in Vietnam. In addition, an application software helps medical staff to always be updated with knowledge and procedures on infectious diseases and hospital hygiene. The training program will be conducted at many hospitals across the country.

The project kick-off seminar was held on March 23, 2017 at The Ann Hotel Conference Room, 38A Hang Chuoi, Hanoi with the attention and participation of representatives of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, Ministry of Health, administrators and lecturers of Hanoi Medical University, leaders and staff of the Department of Infection Control and Nursing at central and local hospitals in the North.
